Exercise 1: Deconstruct and Reconstruct
This week, we are to deconstruct 10 portrait images, and then reconstruct them into something based on our own creativity.
Tools prepared: Cutting mat, scissors, glue, A2 mounting board, blade
Process:
1. From these original images, I first plan what to do before i cut them.
2. Since I am quite obsess with their eyes, I plan to work on their eyes and reconstruct them.
3. Then I also challenge myself to reconstruct the faces while experimenting on forming the visuals.
4. Reconstruct the images and pieces, planning the aesthetics and abstract way of arrangement.
5. After that, arrange them on the A2 mounting board.
6. Glue the final art piece.
7. Final art piece.
Learning Outcome
What I learned from this exercise, is that by breaking the original form of anything can actually give us inspiration or idea to recreate them into something else. Most importantly, we should be enjoying the fun process of recreating and rebuilding something into a new structure. The reason I reconstruct them in this way, because I wanted to make my art piece looks really peculiar and weird, as it looks like the structure of a monster or freaks with many eyes arranged as it's part of body and the combination of the weird looking faces.
